Beautiful island with lots of character and places to explore. It is less commercial than some other Caribbean destinations and may be less favored by those looking for a place where they can easily walk from their hotel or resort to a restaurant or shopping. St. Maarten requires transportation; though renting a car is doable, roads are significantly more narrow and winding compared to those in say, Aruba. Driving is not difficult; it just requires some comfort with gravel roads and limited signs to get around. For those willing to venture out a little bit out of their comfort zones, St. Marteen is a wonderful island.
